Post What happens when you flash your high beams?

This may seem like a silly question but a previous post got me curious about it.

My car is a European version, and has high beam lights in the bumper in addition to the regular pop-up headlights. When my lights are off and I flash my high beams to say hi to someone or to signal to someone that they can pull out in front of me, the lights in the bumper flash. On a US version (for the sake of arguement, lets say this US version has no fogs) what happens when you flash your high beams with the stalk? Can you even do this?

Bryan,

On my US-spec turbo, the driving lights (in the bumper) flash when the stalk is pulled.

Eric, those are fog lights in your US spec Turbo. The driving light half is blocked off unless you have replaced with Euro version and added wiring to make them work.

Bryan, in US versions you can pull the stalk to flash. What happens is the high beams light up, although with the buckets down that doesn't do much good, and the fogs will also light up. Having factory fog lights is pretty standard on US spec models so the flash operation is the same as your model.

Shark,

I know what you mean concerning the fog v. driving lights on the turbos and S2s(I didn't upgrade to the euro-style), I guess I should have said fogs, but (to me) fogs are yellow or amber, while driving lights are clear(from my off-roading days --that even looks like a KC light cover-- )

Turn on the lights fully and then return the **** to the parking light setting. the buckets will not go down and the lights will go off.

As for US turbos. if you have all lights on and then hit the high beams the fog lights will go off and return when the highs are turned off. the highs and fogs do NOT ever run at the same time. Then again if you have the euro light then that is another story....

Only if you have your parking lights on (illegal in many places).

The fenders are different, to use a real 951 nose you would have to change them too. I've heard different things about the header panel between the headlights, that may need to be changed also.
