Post Celica...

I took a Celica (new one, looked like a 2001). From a redlight today, also when we got on the hiwaay, he tried to race me there, I just ate him up at any speeds... I thought Celicas were supposed to be mega quick...

The celica is quick like most high strung 1.8L powered cars are quick. In other words they really arn't. It is not a car that will win any 0-60 contest. I have driven a couple and if you keep them at full boil at the top of the rev range they move along at a fairly good clip. Also if it wasn't a celica GTS it is really down on h.p. and would have been an easy kill.

Who said they were supposed to be quick? The 'GT' only has around 130hp at the same weight as you.

Why are you even wasting your time playing games like that? Maybe if you were in a Integra forum it would be time (and breath) well spent.

Yeah, I figured that much MAS but (and I DO understand somewhat why some Rennlisters are getting frustrated, just trying to help) every time one of these "young bucks" post something about going fast or whatever people jump on them.

All I am saying is maybe just PM them or email them. None of us here can say we haven't done things that may be considered "stupid" to some. I think the young people (like myself) have and are learning from this website in talking to more "seasoned veterans" (ie. older people ) that safe driving is a must, but testing your car can be done so in safe conditions (such as a track, etc).

My 2 cents,
Matt

EDIT
I myself have done at least a few STUPID things in my 924S, but surviving those made me the safe driver I am today. And no, it was COMPLETELY not my fault and unavoidable that I ended up wrecking my 924S - someone ran a red light and hit me (just trying to dispell any comments directed that way).

I apologize if my response appeared too brash. However, I would have thought that rennlisters would have slightly more discerning tastes when it comes to what vehicles they are comparing theirs to. Hopefully in the future there may be a category for "Near Rice Experiences"

BTW... I am 25... hardly one of the more "seasoned" members

Guys,
Trying to tell Craig something is pointless. Nothing personal Craig, I was the same way when I was 16. Couldn't be told anything by anybody. Especially people over 30. If his posts irritate you, as they do me, the most effective thing to do is NOT to reply to them. After this one I will no longer reply to a single post he puts up.
Why? Because he typically has 5-8 posts going at once, mostly concerning juvinile matters. Maybe once school starts back up he won't have so much free time to post on the board.

I would suggest trying to ignore or overlook idiotic posts. It just leads to a disagreement with a person you've never met over something you can't control.

No sermon intended. Sorry.

Max

Everyone take a pill.....geez....

Maybe Craig was just trying to point out how pleased he is that an 18 year old car can still live up to, and sometimes exceed, today's standards. And how disappointed at how current japanese models are so sub-par.

I'm not trying to defend Craig. I'm just saying maybe some people have missed his point.

The Celica GTS sucks. It basically has VTec. But I don't remember what Toyota calls it. But it is geared horribly, and you can not stay in the VTec range when you upshift (even if you red line it). This with a 6 speed tranny. Also, the handling is unpredictable.

I do listen to people MadMax. But what I don't listen to our other peoples morals/standards/ethics. I'm my own person I'll live my life as I please. I'm only as childish as you make me. I do have alot of posts sometimes, alot of them get good replies & debates going to. I was just making comment that this real new flashy 4 cyl car still can't hang. Just look at the poster before you click on it then, noone forced you to read it. I'm not mad at all just so you know ;D.
P.S. I've been in school for two weeks already.
