Newbie Post With Pics
Hey Guys,
I'm not really a newbie to Rennlist just the 944. I had a 964 back in 2006 but had to sell shortly after getting it because I got canned from my job. This is my first post on here an about 7 years. Always wanted to get another Porsche.
On the way to pick my kid up from school there were 2 944s parked outside and my kid kept pointing them out and saying how cool they are. I agreed . I have a close friend who has had a 968 for quite a while and I always liked it.
Started browsing the net for 944 s2s and 951s. As luck would have it there was a nice 951 for sale close by on autotrader. Went out and took it for a drive. Car had some mods and runs well. This car was also at the only show I took my 964 and the owner remebers seeing my car and taking a picture of it.
Car is Stone Grey Metallic over Burgundy partial leather. Was special ordered with no sunroof, no rear wiper, no headlight washers, no cruise. When I told my wife it was cool because it had so few options she kind of tilted her head like a dog does when you make a funny noise.
Some of you may recognize this car. the wheels were orange when I got it but I had to paint them. The orange was kind of cool. I'm just not an orange wheel guy.
Took momma and junior to Sonics for some milkshakes last night.
Had the car a week now and so far I've tightened the cam tower bolts and rear cam cover which slowed down those leaks. Still some oil dripping from the front bolt which looks like it could be the cam seal since the oil is on top of the bolt. Fixed the pass window which was coming out of the track. I ended up flipping the track that attaches to the door to solve that issue. Installed the exhaust tip that came with the car and painted the wheels.
Tried to tighten the front wheel bearings today as there is a little bit of play but ended up stripping the 6mm allen head on the clamp bolt. Just put the dust cap and wheel back on at that point. I think that's the cars way of telling me to just replace the bearings. There was some rust under the cap and on the clamp bolt. Grease still looked good.
Overall car is very nice and I couldn't be happier with it. Just have to pace myself on fixing the little things. Already learned a lot searching on here, pelican and 944online.
Feels good to drive a Porsche again! Love the way this car handles. Much more predictable than my 964 was on old hard tires. Seems every bit as fast too.
Now I just have to sell my other fun car.
Should keep them both but I've had my fun with the Omni. Time to play with the Porsche.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. Really awesome to have a Porsche again. Should have gotten one of these years ago. Glad to have found the one I did.
They are Simmons F90s 17X9 front and 17X9.5 rear. 255/40s really fill out those back fenders nicely. front has 225/45
I really liked the fact that this car had the sunroof delete. Def makes it unique.
The car has most of the mods I normally do to a car. It has Max951 chips, tial WG, MBC (supposeldy a lindsay one but doesn't look like their current air regulator deal). Looks like it probably has the venturi delete as there are some vac lines plugged under the hood? 2.5 inch test pipe. Bursch I think? Can't remember but it was a name brand. 2.5 inch borla muffler.
Has a VDO boost gauge which hits about 16-17 psi and rapidly drops. Not sure if that's the boost controller or just the nature of the beast? I plan on replacing the boost controller with a hallman most likely. I have a hallman on my Omni turbo and it's night and day over the generic ebay mbc I started with on that car.
Car runs real strong. Not going to change anything until I learn a lot more. This sound like a typical setup for one of these with the stock turbo?
Suspension mods are Koni yellows all around and Weltmeister 200 lb springs in front. Rear is just lowered with the torsion bar adjusters. Was corner balanced after the installation. Car rides very smooth on this setup. Rides more like Bilstiens than Konis. The 3 other cars I had Konis on all rode like coal carts but handled great.
Also has H4 headlights and some kind of euro mod to the fog/driving lights. Don't plan on doing too much more to it but I do sometimes mod my cars. This one's at a pretty good place. Will probably just chip away at the oil leaks and make sure all the maint is up to date.
