Just wondering if there's a way to find out what brand/model head unit came in my car?

P.E.T will let you know all that was available but you should check your books for the option code then research that code.

Are you guys referring to the option codes found on the back panel? It says I have 490 & 494.

Just guessing that you have a 944/2, since you didn't say... but 490 is "sound system" and 494 is "additional amplifier". No help there. Is there a manual that came with the car? The audio manuals are the best bet.

Yes I have a '90 S2 cab, but when I purchased it the PO replaced the oem head unit and didn't have any info or manuals.

It shouldn't be too hard to narrow down. Do you have the window sticker or separate build sheet? My '89 N/A had a Reno SQR46 w/ the standard 4 speaker setup.
