Post What ever happened to SFR SC 944's?

Well, what?
Did anyone actaully shell out the $5000 (or more) and do this? What are the results for a daily driven car? Were there a lot of bugs to work out?Is this a real consideration for the NA owner when reliability is foremost?

My car is currently at Speed Force Racing. There level 2 supercharger is already installed on my car. My car is a 91 944S2 Cab. I beleive it will be dyno'd next Monday. I can't wait to see the results.

Shouldn't dyno tuning take more than one day? -Trevor

Do you intend for the car to be a daily driven car? If so, what HP/Torque figures are you expecting?

Can't remember...is Level two intercooled? I would think you would need that on a daily driver.

Did you/will you do corresponding brake upgrades?

The level two is intercooled. They have been testing since December. Unfortunatly I live in Northern California so all my updates are via the phone. I spoke with John today and he said that this coming Monday they will run the car on the dyno for final tuning. He assured me the car would be reliable enough to drive every day if I want to, but no the car is a not a daily driver. I do autocross the car on weekends and when I do drive it on the street it is driven very hard. I have recently driven other supercharge cars and I am very impressed with there performance and reliabilty. A friend of mine has been driving his supercharge civic for about three years with no problems. If a civic motor can handle it I would think my Porsche motor can. If everything works out my next project will be to super charge my 98 BMW 540i.

Hi Dan, yes the 8 valve kits have been on sale for a little while now, and the results can be seen on our website as far as dyno numbers go. We are currnetly working on Mike's S2 (I love this car) and will have the final numbers next week.

We are installing turbo pistons in an 8 valve for our highest level conversion in the 8 valve series...we expect 340-350 on pump gas....more with higher octain...remember, thgis from a car that originally put down about 125 stock!

We will be installing our 928 kit very soon..this should be a screamer...right now we are working on the details with the donor :-)

Take Care All!

I assume use of the turbo pistons is to bring down the compression ratio. What will the ratio be now? What is ideal for a SC engine?

I don't know, but assume the Turbo pistons are forged vs the NA pistons being cast, correct or not?

So if I were interested in really improved performance but want day to day reliability (I rarely push it hard on the street - it's an NA right now, what would be the point?) what level am I looking at? 2? What honestly necessary additional improvements will I need? My clutch is original so there's one. How about brakes? Go to the black calipers? Total cost?

P.S. Would O ringing the heads be necessary ($?)for reliability? Would the level 3 or 4 kit - but with lower boost levels - give the greatest reliability for the performance attained due to improved fuel management?
