What is my 944 worth?
Blew my timing chain on the way into work this morning and might not want to fix it. Anyone looking to buy a clean 1987 944 n/a with a blown timing chain (possible valve work)? Car is Burgandy with Tan Leather interior. Has a set of 17" Wheels off a C4 and everything works. Ran like a charm before this morning. I'll take some pics later today and throw them up on this board tomorrow.

Get a copy of the latest issue of "Excellence" for a value of your car (in operating condition). As for the repair work, probably subtract $1,600 to $2,000 just to be safe.
Maybe some of the other folks will chime in.
Good luck

sorry to hear it.. could make like perry951 and keep going. what are your plans for another car? i will be looking to buy an 83-84 that i found with a shot engine (?) for under $1k to play with. i am only considering it because the body is in very good shape (interior is crap but i don't care).
as an afterthought you could always fix it and then turn it around for $4-5k, if it's good shape and you don't want it anymore (we have a ton of resources in marin for porsche repair, you know).
keep the vibe..

I don't feel like dumping $2,000 into it so that I can see what i can get for it as a running car. The body is very straight and the interior is almost flawless. EVERYTHING works on the car. This was actually my second hobby, Rockcrawling (JEEP) being the first. Accordingly, I am gonna buy a large SUV to tow the jeep around and sell the Porsche for whatever I can get. I am thinking about selling the Porsche without the wheels (with stock wheels) for $2,500 and with the wheels for an additional $1,000. Anyone interested?

Where are you located?
I hope you get it but I think it will be a hard sell at that price. Can get a really nice one in the $4-6K range and buying one with major unknown damage in the $2.5-3.5 range might be a little optimistic.

I probably want the rims. Make sure you get a decent picture of them and what tires/condition are on them? How much? Depending on shipping, I might be willing to drive up on my day off.
P.S. Where is Novato, CA?
