I have started to tear into my new acquisition, an 84 n/a that I'm going to build up as a back-up track car. I suspect it's been done before but here are some pics where I have hoisted the car on my lift, attached the front and rear bumpers with slings and come-a-longs to my overhead beam, and lowered the drivetrain intact to the floor. The rear torsion bar tube assembly came out first. Probably the biggest hassle was getting at the various pieces Porsche assembles around the torque tube in the tunnel, which are not physically attached to the torque tube but are in the way of lowering it down. I guess they are "safety straps" for lack of a better term. DT1.jpg
Dropping the drive train reminds me of "Pimp My Ride" where they take all the parts off the car and throw them in a big pile. It looks impressive but that's the easy part. Now the hard part begins!
I'll most likely post my build thread over on www.newhillgarage.com since I'm more used to adding content there and I can keep better track of it. I'll post some reminders here now and then when there is something interesting to see.
