Default 968 BMC OTA air filter box install

Just wanted to share some pictures of the BMC OTA air filter that I installed recently. Benefit is that it will draw cold air straight from the front unlike the Green air filter that was installed before. First driving impression is positive!

See both before and after pics attached.

Nice. I believe the best place to get air is the factory location where I think there is a nice high pressure area rather than what I suspect is low pressure or backwash from the radiator with the other setup.

Someday when I have time I plan on datalogging the MAF signal for more detail.

With the new intake I've guided the hose to front for max pressure (see picture). As next step I to like get a nice inlet trumpet or convert turbo s style wider bigger gap.

For what it is worth track data logging seems to support the car actually gained a bit of top speed. But given some many other variables can play into this is hard be 100% sure.

Once you are happy with the design layout, rebuild it with mandrel bent aluminum tubing to reduce the turbulance. (compared to the accordian style hose), and I agree with some sort of trumpet at the inlet....I KNOW it makes a difference when using dcoe carbs to have the trumpets on.

Goodluck!

Hi there Bastiaan, I like the air filter setup you have. On my car I used to have an open filter like the green one you posted. I didn't notice any power loss, and a friend of mine used a digital thermometer while driving to log the temperature at the filter and found that it drops to ambient temperature as soon as the car starts moving. So perhaps the new filter enclosure provides a better response at the stop-lights?

One thing I like about the open filter is the added sound.

It looks like you have cool headlights - I'd love to see some pics!
