Looks a hell of a lot diffrent than mine!

Almost looks like a 968 dual mass, but not really, and I haven't seen one up close and personal in a while.

So I guess it's a good thing?
Any other guesses?

If it worked in the car, then why worry.. but it would be good to know where it came from. Any markings, numbers, or records from the PO?

Question

No markings and no info from the PO. Oh well I guess it's some after market thing.

Looks to me like somebody machined away portions of the outer edge to save weight. It might not be a bad idea to have it Magnefluxed to see if there are any hidden stress cracks, but otherwise you're probably in good shape.

That is a 'scalloped' lightened flywheel. I have never seen a 944 flywheel that was done that way but lots of 911 units. We lighten them to but not like that. I would also worry about cracks with the sharp edges that I could see. A Mag test would not be a bad idea.
