Red face More drivetrain problems

I just repacked my cv joints which solved that problem but found another. I noticed my car is still has a clicking sound coming from it only this time it seems to be coming more from the middle of the car. I had the car on jacks and started the engine to get an idea and when I started and had it in nuetral it was making a clunking sound. The more the rpm's the faster the sound. I have no idea what's going on, I do know the clutch rubber plate has deteriorated in the clucth could that have anything to do with it? What else can make that sort of sound?
Thanks,
Tony

You may have answered your own question. If there is severe deterioration of the rubber center, the "limp mode" is an engagement of "teeth" between the center and the plate. It results in some free play which can result in a definite "click" which willonly get worse with time.

Good Luck!!
