i hope somebody knows what i am talkin' about.

I am looking for an induction "cowl" that i saw on a 968... i think it was an rs but i am not sure. I know gt does not supply the part. N/e ideas

I know what you're thinking of too.
It was a reverse scoop type of thing behind the intercooler I think..
I wouldn't think you could do anything similar to a 951 with the hood latch in the way and all...

I was thinking about the same thing yesterday

that thing wouldn't be in the way of the hood latch, but might present problems with the hood bracing structure. I'd like to see a pic of the underside of the hood...

An additional added benefit might be more downforce on the center of the car?

The only way I'd do one would be an exact replica of the Porsche one - it's hard enough to make a gaping hole in the hood look like it's supposed to be there!

The reason I was thinking it would be in the way of the hood latch is that on a 968 turbo the hood covers the intercooler...on the 951 the nose panel does.
So on a 951 in order to position something behind the intercooler, it would have to be at the front of the hood....which would be right where the latch is.
On a 968 thats not an issue...but most 968's dont have intercooler's either.

Get what im saying?

I saw another 968 with a vented hood and thought that would be perfect to flow more air through the IC. But to do this effectively would require latching the hood behind each headlamp. The hood latch takes up valuable space that can be used to flow air out of the IC.

I think the 'Tasmania' decal on the green Turbo S points you in the right direction. Isn't there a Fitzgerald Racing in Australia that makes replica Turbo S's? They have made a handful, I seem to remember. I guess they'd sell parts as well, the Aussie dollar is good US value now.

IF it did obstruct the hood latch, I would go with hood pins. (as gawdy as they might seem)

I would really like lower underhood temps. And I'm pretty sure that this would be better than a naca duct.

I've thought about a small NACA duct where the filter is in front of the expansion tank and thought, just thought of one over the exhaust to push small bit of air down over the exhaust manifold. But it was just a thought. It is such clean hood. Does anyone have any pics of NICE factory looking duct on a 951? Curious...

There are flush locking hood pins available. i am sure a couple of compact latch mechanisms can be had easily.

Lowering underhood temps is definitely great...more air flow through the IC means more power.

...like the 931 hood (I've got one in storage to go on my 951 whenever I get around to painting!).

Also, good point about latch (and corresponding sheetmetal)obstructing AIRFLOW.
....and there is still that annoying little issue of the under-hood bracing.
