Luke, The "hood vent" is replicated, by Fitzgerald Racing in Australia.
I contacted him to purchase one, and he told me, that He paid $2000.00 from the factory for an original part, then duplicates it when he has an interesed party.
The part is basicly desgned specificly for the 968 hood, and he said he'd never done a 951 install, but assured me with a little modifyling, that it would work.
It's purpose, is to vent the hot air after passing through the intecooler, and should be productive in lowering charge air temps.
In a recent discussion with Tim, at SFR, I supplied him with the link and the price, the guy would supply them for, and he showed an interest in the product. Since that's only been about two months ago, I am not aware if SFR now sells the part, or intends to.
You may try contacting them however. If people showed interest, it may sway their decision to carry such a product.
If your interested, send me an email and I'll be happy to forward the message sent to me from Fitzgerald racing, he seemed more than happy to do buisness and since the exchange rate between Austalia and US currency is almost half, it is a really good buy.

Lukesilver95186, the 931 nose panel and headlight covers won't fit, but I believe all the hoods are the same dimensions - I will measure and verify, but I am 99.9% sure I am correct.

Yeah, that cowl is so elegant that I wouldn't want "gawdy" hood pins.

Anyways, the part is fiberglass and it's made up of two parts, the outer, and inner section.
Looking at the pic's that Luke posted, especially the second, you can see, that, the hood part on 968's in front of the vent, is approximately the size of a 951 nose panel, so you'd have to place the vent as close to the leading edge of a 951 hood to get the same look and effect. The 968 turbo car, for those who haven't seen an engine shot, places the intercooler under hood, instead of hidden like 951.
Concerning the price, as of two months ago, Peter (the man himself) Fitzgerald said he's ship one to us for Aus$500, which under exchange rates then, and now as far as I know come to $250.00 US, not bad since I reread his email to me since I posted earlier, and he paid AUS$2500.00...
I was going to get a fiberglass hood since I'm pretty sure it would be easier to modify..

If we need group interest to lower the price I will go in on getting one. I have been trying to figure out how to duplicate the look of the 968 RS and instead of a hack job I would prefer to use the factory parts.
I had been throwing a lot of ideas around, for example, mounting the subaru WRX hood scoop backwards after the intercooler, or perhaps just a custom vent made from the hood and some fiberglass. But like I said, I don't want this to look like I threw it togethre in my garage.

Te original scoop was developed by Techart in Germany. I spoke to Uli Wuller in Weissach enquiring where to get this part and that's who he said developed it for the yellow car you see on the thread. Weissach is the Porsche Motorsport department where the genuine car was built. I asked the about one when I was going to build a 968 Turbo S replica.
On speaking to Techart they said that the mould mysteriously went missing when they relocated to new premises.
Fitsgeralds in Oz may be your only route now. If I'm out of date on this topic did anybody actually buy one from them? If so what did it actually cost?
