Clem--Thanks! I like the interior more and more. It's different...black leather would be cool though!

TomH--What color is YOUR 757 Special?

Mine... what color is LAY1? I have looked, but my german womens' color guide is out of date. If it isn't red, blue, yellow, etc., then I don't have a name for it.

As for my 85.5 euro, I have seen one other 944 in germany that is the same color and it is a later model.

Someone throw me a bone on this:

Well, in '83 they sent 5506 over to the USA. The second least of any of the 944 NA's. Mine is an early '83, came off the line in 5/82. The color, light metallic blue, is actually a 1982 production color, not an '83 color. I still haven't seen the color on any other 944, in person or on the net. It has all the common options.

What do u guys think.

According to the reference I found online (which luke has verified to be not 100% accurate, they don't list stone grey) LA 1Y =Calahari Beige Metallic. That sounds like an appropriate name for that car. I've seen ads that called it "Calahari Gold" too. Looks gorgeous.

Thanks for the replys fellas.

Actually the guy I bought that from took that picture. So that's his neighborhood. Everone else had 4 door cars only painted in primary colors. (For the Edward Sissorhands reference )

If I extrapolate the '88 Turbo S numbers to the 89 turbo's...I get 122 Alpine White 944 turbo's in the USA. There were a few more black's than white's made...so add like 10 or 20 or somethin.

So my car is one of 122 in the USA by my rough calculations! Not bad eh?
