I just picked up a 924S for a good price. Plan is to race it on weekends. It's in fairly good shape but it has a large slightly creased dent in the door and again on the qtr. Can paint less dent removal work here? I don't even need perfect... Just prefer not to drive a Porsche with two huge dents.

Anyone have experience with PDR? I am going to swing by a near by PDR place on Friday, but was wondering if I'm being realistic.

From what I have seen they tackle some pretty big dents. I would like to know how much they estimate this job to cost for future reference.

on the other hand. if it's a track car, take off the door card and rubber mallet it out from the inside.

PDR will not work. To do it properly, your door has to be reskinned and the l/r qtr could probably be worked by a pro although the picture is at a poor angle for what the actual depth is.

if the dent has a sharp edged (looks like it in the picture) your better of getting another door, it would take more money than it's worth. Sharp edge dents don't just pull out, they need pulling and usually a good amount of other work.

PDR can pull out a lot of dents, creases and body lines are a bit harder though. If your paint is cracked or scratched deep enough that buffing won't work (catches fingernail) then it'll need to be repainted to look new anyhow.

I've had $4,000 of hail damage on my daily driver that I had PDR take out a few years ago, came out pretty nice and only a couple days without it. We have a PDR guy that comes by (I work at a body shop) and he'll do some of the cars that come in for us when it's cheaper to pay him to pop a dent that pulling and refinishing it ourselves would cost.

That quarter doesn't look too bad to pop out at that angle, the door however looks like it wouldn't be much fun. I would rather replace the skin or whole door. Filler on doors tends to pop more because the doors bounce around and flex more.

Porsche cars respond well to PDR. All the body shops have a guy that comes in. Find that guy and deal with him directly. It can save you money and give you more control.

I am sure you could get at least a 50% improvement by pulling the door card off and pushing the dent out by hand (or rubber mallet as was suggested earlier).

this is a complex dent. and you're assuming he's got open real estate in front of where he's going to need to apply pressure. and the reason i didn't mention door replacement, is while it's not a bad idea, that introduces it's own set of problems on a low value car when this door can be made ready for plastic in about an hour. if he's going to respray the car, then getting a new door would be a good idea.

too bad your not closer I'd do it for you. Since your only looking for like 50% better than I agree with most take the door card off raise the window and push by hand first if not then tap it with a rubber mallet. Local auto part stores have body hammers, you could puchase one and use that. They are metal though so take care on the amount of for you use. Good luck sir
