Function over form, for sure. That said, I definitely take the time to clean and sometimes paint stuff when I have it apart. I'm just a little OCD when it comes to things being clean... Not Crazy Eddie OCD, just a bit .

I'm function over form but I can (and often will) do things purely for aesthetics if it does not significantly harm any function that care about.

simply put, both. i may buy coilovers to make the car look better, but at the same time, i'm not buying **** one's, i'm buying one's that will increase handling as well as speed(lower=less resistence). i'm buying wheel that may look better, but chances are they're larger formoe contact as well as fitting bigger brake kits underneath.
you can both ways with many things on cars. buyng cheap drilled brakes is a look more than function, cause they'll still warp and wear out before the end of a race weekend, but they look good.

Form first, that's why I bought a 944. They can be gorgeous little coupes. Someday mine will look pretty, but until then I'm content to just drive it around when I want to beat on something RWD.

Anyway, for me its function over form all the way. Streetable race cars are the best to look at too, in my opinion

Race Car
I've got one better. Met a guy last year, I think at the Mitty, who had worked for an aerospace defense company (can't recall, Boeing, Lockheed, etc.). THey had a very high reject rate of titanium bolts. He collected rejects.
That has to be the be-all, end-all of weight reduction right there. Evey time I've pulled stuff off of the car, I've been amazed at how much the fasteners weigh.

Nope......
Dauer 962 They DRILLED OUT the center of the titanium bolts before installing. Now THAT is the be all end all....
Now I've errantly forgot to replace some fasteners when replacing stuff. That could indirectly be the be all end all....heading for wall at T-6
