Pictures please of a 924 or early 944 dash cover
I'm buying a 924S for a track car and it has the typical cracked dash. Anyone have good pictures of installed dash covers as I'm thinking of going down that route.

My car came with the dashmart. (the wookie) It was awesome for hanging things on with velcro (Ipod) and had a great matt texture with no glare but it was old and kinda gross so I put on a used dashcap. To the casual abserver it looks factory. I never glued mine down so it rattled and made me nuts so I took it off and went back to a cracked dash.

I know you can have you dash removed and recovered, but the cost to value isn't there on a 924. My thought was what about applying an alacantra type material to the dash caps you guys pictured. The dash caps are a decent option but Alacantra coating would look nicer IMHO. There is even a process called "Flocking" that i know about from work. It's a spray on "fuzz" -( ground up suede shavings) - that I theorize you can spray onto the dash cap. It might look kinda cool to have a pseudo alacantra dash cap rather than the shiny PVC variety. My idea could be a step above dash caps but below full recovering. ie @200 bucks.

Quick google shows that as usual -- almost every idea ever thought of -- already exists. I wonder how much it costs...

I was thinking about the same thing at one point. Vinyl would be too thick but an "ultrasuede" type thing might work. I am currently trying to get motivated to get in the garage and patch up and and flock the top half portion of the spare dash I have been sitting on since last fall. I might revisit the dash cap/ultrasuede thing as it seems easier to try.

I didn't purchase anything yet except the spare dash. I will get the donjer kit since I've done a bunch of reading on the interwebs and many people seem to use them. I'm mostly worried about the cracks coming back over time which is why I should get moving on patching the dash first and doing some testing. I figure I can move the dash outside at night and put it inside on the boiler during the day to see if the temp change brings the cracks back. If I'm happy with the result I may just prime and paint with SEM texture paint and SEM colorcoat, no flocking.
Keep in mind I've been planning this for a year now and only gotten the dash purchased, I'm pretty lazy.

One other option I came across recently is dcauto - on their site they list a restored/recovered dashboard:

I haven't purchased one myself, but the picture on their site looks good
