951 Intake Manifold Removal?
Ok, I've got a blown 951 intake manifold gasket. Got the removal instructions from the 944 garage site. Everything went great until the last bolt - the manifold support bolt under the front runner of the manifold. All I need to do is lossen the #*1$% thing and I can pull the manifold. Problem is this. It's a 13mm bolt, but there's not enough room to get a socket and wrench on the head. No room to turn or set an open end wrench. I'm thinking I'll need to cut down a standard 13mm socket, but before I toast the tool, I thought I'd ask and see what others have used. Anybody have a suggestion?

Thanks Rob, I failed to mention that I had tried a universal as well. Mater of fact, I even dismanteled a universal so I only had the end clipped on the socket, thought I might be able to use an allen wrench on the end - still no room! How'd they get the thing on there to begin with???

No a socket with universal won't work, it's too long. You have to use a 13mm socket with universal joint built-in. Go down to Home Depot and check out their Husky line of sockets. There's a model that has built-in swivels that's really handy.

Thanks Danno,
I thought I had seen something like that before, but I wasn't sure it would work. I don't mind paying for tools, but I sure hate it when they don't work. I'll check out the local Home Depot tommorrow. By the way, thanks for going the extra mile an posting a pic.
