I went back and forth on whether or not I should use it originally, after seeing some of the negative reviews on here. I talked to family friend who has about 50 years experience in restoring older cars and he recommended trying the stuff. I'm sure that there are problems with it from time to time but I, personally, haven't had any issues and have definitely seen an improvement in how my turbo runs after using it

I had positive results as well. If I recall, the "caution" about using it was on the turbo, because it could theoretically cause you to pump a bunch of crap through your turbo - but I had no issues on mine. Made it run a LOT better.

Personally, I think it's snake oil - especially after I've used it. If it was really cleaning out all the carbon and gunk, the huge smoke screen that bellows out of your car would be grey/black, not white.
But heed this word of warning if you do use it - don't do it in the garage. Especially if it's an attached garage. And you might want to warn the neighbors beforehand so they don't call the fire department

I just recently picked up a 2002 Eurovan that was diagnosed with a bad timing chain tensioner. When I took it apart this is what the motor looked like.
I put a new chain and tensioners on the van and it did not cure the issue.(wouldn't idle and timing all over the place) So while looking for a solution I ran the car (had to keep foot on the throttle to keep it at idle speed) for about 20 minutes with SeaFoam in it.
I ended up having to take the valve cover back off and finally found the issue (small metal screen stuck in the cam adjuster)
BUT........and I'm sorry I don't have a picture of this........ALL of the carbon crap build up was gone
Van runs great but I think I got one of the cam adjusters indexed slightly off as I get a check engine light for cam adjustment limit right now. Later this spring I plan it tear it apart again and fix that. I will take another picture and update this thread then.

I ve been using seafoam in my boats for years, outboards and inboards. all with positive results, never thought to use it in my 944.
what is the most common use in a 944, in the gas tank or in the oil?
