Post OT: The good o'l 911'ers! (already seen two)

On the way back from VA in TN, I saw a guy in a Red 'Carrera' that's all it said on the back, and it didn't look a thing like my friends dad's 1979 911SC. It looked littler or something, I looked over and he looked, I honked and waived, he gave a kinda odd look, and just kinda slowed down and got behind me! LOL!
Then today on my way home after picking up breakfast I was turning right at an intersection in that little lane specified for it, and going in the other direction was a 911 Carrera, a new looking one. (his left side was facing me). I slowed down to an almost stop, flashed lights and honked slightly, he looked over, and I waived a little and he looked at me w/ a little bit of confusion and just kinda waived... LOL! He didn't know what it was I guess! By the way could I take that car? Figure, 1998 911 carrera.

282 Horsepower at 6100 rpm

0-60 in 5.2 seconds
0-1/4 mile 13.5 seconds at 106 mph
Top speed 171 mph

You tell me? How does your car perform? Remember that the 993 will not have any turbo lag. It also has an ideal drag racing weight bias.

Hey Craig, what kind of wheels you got on your 951? I might like to buy them off you after you dump that car in a ditch.

Drive safely.

This reminds me of a funny story. I will preface it with an apology that yes, my 944 is my daily driver/beater car (although the way I take care of it you'd never know it). My fun summer car is an '85 928S euro version. Anyway, my folks were visiting me and we went for a drive in it (the 928S). We were out for a drive with me in the back "seat" and my dad driving. We were on a divided highway, and another 928S came by the other way. The other driver flashed his lights and waved out the window at us. My dad was totally oblivious. I'm like, "Dad, wave. Flash your lights. Dad. Hey. Dad, wave at him. Flash the lights. Come on." And of course my dad is like "Huh? What? I like pudding." So in a few seconds the other 928S is gone past, probably thinking to himself, "What a jerk!"

Have you ever found yourself fumbling with the 944 headlight mechanism trying to respond to a flash?

My Boxster has the feature where you can just pull back on the control stalk, and the headlights flash.

Can you hack a 'flash button' for your 944 headlights?

You mean just flip your brights?
Or do the strobe light effect? I'm getting the relay where you pull back on the brights and it does the Euro Strobe light effect....

what's this "euro strobe" effect y'all are talking about? in my '87 951 if you pull back on the stalk that actuates the turn signals and toggles between hi beam/dipped beam, the hi beams come on, regardless of the setting of the headlight switch. this isn't too much good though if the lights are retracted anyway.

does this strobe flash turn on the driving lights for a short instant or something?

When you pull back on the switch and hold it it constantly Strobes until you let off. It's used on the autobahn... You can get the relay somewhere, it's rare though.

On my S2, when you pull the high beam stalk with the lights off the fog lights flash. Seems to work good when saying hello or asking someone to move to the slow lane!

IIRC, All 944's will flash the fogs when pulling back on the dimmer stalk with the lights off. I don't have foglights anymore, so no help for me. I just flash a nipple now
