Post REBUILD TIME!

Well if any of you read my post marked urgent, you know that I have to rebuild my 88 951 much sooner than hoped. I am planing to get the rebuild kit with wide fire gasket and turbo rebuild from vertex and pistons and head most likely from garrity. I will also be installing a LR wastgate and maybe an apexi avc typ-r. If any of you have anything that you feel might be help full It would be great. Is vertex the best place for the gasket/bearings kit?
Thanks
Chris

Might want to give Jason @ Paragon a shot at your parts business, great service.

I think Garrity could set you up w/all of the same stuff they can, and he can usually get nice used turbos and save you lots of $, depending on what type you want. I'd try to get as much stuff from the same place as possible, especially if you're using someone like him, as he can tell you what works together, and what you'll need, so you don't forget anything important...

How many miles?

What is wrong?

You may be able to dodge buying new pistons.

We just did a rebuilt this summer, and Vertex seemed to have the best prices, but ... I would not recommend them. They packaged all our parts VERY poorly, with most of the internal boxes getting damaged. After we inspected every part, we found 3 bearings with significant damage (nicks). They were very good in replacing the parts / giving credit. But, even the replacement parts they sent had damage (even though the boxes looked fine). We ended up having to mix and match parts from the two shipments to get clean set of bearings. Again, they were good to work with, but the quality was pretty poor. If you do go with Vertex, inspect your parts very closely.
