Default Headlight Switch?

Hello and Good 2013 to Everyone!

Question about the headlight switch, if the headlight switch fails to turn on the headlights would it also fail to turn on the parking lights?

My understanding of the wiring behind that switch is that it has a seperate contact for the parking lights.
However, that's running from memory. I'd have to go through my workshop manual to confirm.

Thanks Fara,

I cannot get the headlights to power on. Everything was working fine with new GTS lights and headlight wiring harness. I checked the fuses and the wondering if it is the headlight switch.

there is a relay on the headlight motor that can fail causing the lights not to raise or lower

mazdaverx7,
I have the GTS lights now. Would the headlight relay still be a factor in the lights no longer coming on?

i'm thinking that it would not be. its only used to raise and lower the lights. my guess would be a faulty switch. i'm not extremely familiar with the 85.2 and up 944's. i would think though that the headlight switch would activate the parking lights as well as the headlights.

i had issues with my lights in my early 944 and the fault ended up being a faulty solder joint at the fuse block wiring. messing with the wiring would cause the lights to actually work as intended.

After testing another headlight switch, fuses, and bulbs, I tracked down the problem to be a shortage with the original headlight harness.

Thanks for the input!

Hi Toran, Did the GTS Headlights require much time/work getting them to fit correctly? What is your opinion of their quality for money spent?

Cheers,
Larry
