Those are pretty fricken wide.
It depends on your 944. What year is it?
And what exact wheels we talkin about? Sounds really expensive.

If your driving a 944 NA forget it,even 951/S2 & 968 owners do keep away from 19" with that size tires,a 944 NA is simply not design to haul these kind of wheels unless it's a V8 conversion.

+1 on 17" rims. Google wheel dynamics they have 19's on 944's they look cool but totally impractical.
I'm stuck with a limited amount of rims here in Australia but even if I lived in the US I still wouldn't go any bigger than 17".....MHO

I've been thinking and searching for new wheels for a good while for my '87 951. Basically, I have come up with a rule of thumb on wheel size for my car based on many reviews and opinions, max diameter - 18", max front width - 8", max back width - 10". Beyond these sizes the wheels either won't fit, the fenders will needed to be rolled, spacers will be required and/or the ride comfort/handling will be adversely affected.
17" diameter wheels seem to be the best overall choice for ride comfort, handling, power delivery and of course asthetics. Generally, most 993, 996 and 986 wheels are good choices for fit, comfort, handling and asthetics.
That all said, I do love the look of those 19" 997 Turbo wheels on Dougs951 car in his avatar. I ran across a set of pretty rough 18" replicas a couple of years ago but never have been able to find them in 18" again.

I run 17x9 cup 2s front and back with 255/40 tires on a stock suspension n/a body. Even with the mushy suspension they've yet to rub.

Tire size is 285/35r19 et 67. That is where the problem may be.

Yeah, that tire size is wrong for a 997, should have been a 295/30.
The Wheel should also be a 11x19, which likely will not fit without rubbing issues.
If you do buy them, at least make sure it has a Upside-down Triangle with a "P" in it. And a part number starting in 997.
