Default Ol dear, I've been driving without rear brakes!

Hello All,

Was working on her over the weekend and realized the rear calipers are long gone...dead...rusted...frozen.

I upgraded the front to the 4-piston Brembo brakes a couple yeas ago and that increased stopping. I'm not sure when the rears went bye bye, it could have been early this year or even later. Didn't really notice a difference.

Looks like I'll be tracking down some rear gear soon enough.

it's not like the rears do much anyway. most of the braking power is in the fronts

Is this the deal:
Front Brakes 80% stopping
Rear Brakes 20% stopping

By changing the fronts to a larger setup, you have changed your braking bias. (unless you compensated with a proportioning valve.) For example if your braking bias was 60/40 stock, changing the fronts only could change your bias to 80/20. At say 20% rear, they are hardly being used in daily driving, thus are more prone to seizing. This was/is a huge problem with older domestic cars with disc front and drum rears. The rears moved so little, the car would require rears to be lubed/cleaned every 6 months while the fronts would be just fine...Most people would only get the brakes looked at when they had an issue (usually the fronts that they could notice) the rears were usually trashed by then. Wala huge repair bill.

For $25 plus shipping I will send you a pair of rear calipers, I would rebuild them before putting them on the car, but it woud give you time to do so with the current one (albiet broken) in place.
