Default JY feeler: script cloth, hard top roof.

Found 2 924S cars yesterday in the junkyard. They were in good shape overall but found some interesting things. Both cars were black with tan interiors, both had script seats. Cloth was in good shape but very dirty. One of the seats had a small (maybe 1/4") hole in the script cloth but not too bad.

One of the cars had a factory hard top which appeared to be straight and good. They will cut it off and should be ~$150 or less out the door.

Any interest in these parts, or anything else off the 924S's? Let me know soon. Otherwise I might go get the cloth myself

I got a solid roof from a 924 at pick n pull once. I went with my sawzall and just chopped through the pillars. The only thing I unbolted was the hatch.

As soon as the sound of the sawzall came out, I had a flock of Latinos gather around me, and as soon as I stopped cutting, they took turns asking me to borrow the saw. LOL, no way, it's my dad's Hilti!

When I purchased my 86 NA ......I ordered it at the dealership with options I wanted. Only Graphite Metallic paint and cruise control. Didn't want to spend $500 on the sunroof option that popped up a few inches in the rear. Never thought I see the day when other 944 owners would cut a hardtop roof from a donor.

There are 944s older than me...

That is a beautiful car! I love the color, I love the hardtop. Are those seats gray pinstripe cloth?

Cool for you to offer Spencer. I may think of some small parts and let you know. I recommend you pop all the little plastic caps off the interior hardware...those things are like $8 each from Porsche IIRC. Also, I go to the U-pull-it junk yards and walk out with a ton of nice yellow zinc plated hardware from all the different German cars. That hardware is nice to have around and makes the cover charge for getting into the junk yards worth it. They never charge me for it.

Not a bad idea...most of the stuff I find is pretty dirty but could probably be cleaned...

Seats are the vinyl with cloth insert........Pinstripe Flannel - Anthracite......a standard cloth option in 1986. I was very lucky to find the SAME cloth seat at a Hershey swap meet one year for $50. After 15+ years of daily commuting; the cloth wears.

284k miles. Very nice!

To OP, I was hoping your seats were black script seats.

DLarsen, that's a beautiful interior, especially with that many miles. I can appreciate when someone takes car of their car. My 968 has 240k miles and the interior is very clean, except the dash is cracked. Yours looks intact! I love those seats BTW, I wish I could find a set. Thanks for sharing!
