I'm going to be doing this swap in the future.
Unfortunately, I already have too many projects on this car at the moment, so I'd rather not have something else to distract me from the higher priority jobs

Slightly off topic story: 7 or 8 years ago I picked up a rental Ford Focus at night. Pulled up to the guard shack on the way out and couldn't figure out how to roll the window down. After frantically looking around the interior for a bit I glance up to see the guard (who appeared to have recently arrived from a 3rd world country) with a bemused look on his face making a circular motion with his arm...who knew any car built in the 2000's had manual roll up windows!?

They are different but they both bolt on . If you put early winders in a late door you have 2 positions to bolt it on in , one will bring the winder lower than the factory hole in the late panels and the other will not allow to wind down the window fully ,it sticks out 1" . I have 924 winders in my '86 944.

you just have to make a hole in the panel about 1" lower than the factory pre-drilled one, if you didn't cut the vinyl already in that place .The rollers are the same .
