Default Manual Sunroof Conversion Question

Hi everyone,

My sunroof popped open in the back while I was driving at highway speeds last week. The motor works sometimes and only one armature actually extends. I know how much of a pain these things are, and I don't want to be bothered with repeatedly fixing it, so I ordered the manual roof conversion parts.

My question is two parts:

1- Do I have to pull down the headliner and take out everything in the back to pull the sunroof motor and cable out?

2- If I pull out the armatures like it says on Sid Vicious' site, the new Porsche plates don't line up. How do I attach them?

Thanks everyone!

pull the headliner down. remove the cover plate from the armature boxes and remove the armature. leave the rest of the black box attached to the roof.

unscrew the armature catches on the sunroof panel and put the manual latches in their place. the "foot" of the manual latch locks down onto the original armature base.

whole process should take about 20 minutes start to finish. if you want to remove the entire cable system go ahead, will take longer and you have to get creative in bending to pull the cable.

I'd say you can leave the motor and cable in the car, unless you're a racer looking to shed every ounce of unneeded weight.

That worked great! Taking out the armature levers made it much easier. The left side closed perfectly and the right side needs adjusting on the sunroof itself.
