Default what qualities are required to wear the RS badge ?

hello fellow porsche enthusiasts. I'm in the middle of a 944 build. engine, tasteful bodywork tweaks, custom interior changes blah blah blah etc. etc. etc.
All being well it,ll be getting a 968 engine shortly, so decent power
circa 250 ponies !
ill be shedding weight left, right and centre, hopefully get near 1050kg.
still undecided on wheels, playing with the idea of some custom made ones. (need to see whats left in the slush fund ) any suggestions ? (17's or 18's only, and early offset)
and then fresh paint and maybe a bit of arch pulling to squeeze 10-11" at the back
Will be customising/lightening the interior, manual seats, manual windows. possibly remove centre console, delete anything pointless. obviously no rear seats, replacing heavy insulating with modern dynamat type product. spare wheel gone, so replacing with new light weight rear carpet.
currently playing with a spare hatch to have a different rear spoiler, think subtle cross between RWB and touring car look.(not sure yet might look ricey)

so this leads me to the topic title, if all above boxes are ticked would this qualify for an RS-esque tribute of sorts and maybe wear an RS badge ??
or if not what else is required?
all ideas and criticism's welcomed. thanks in advance. Mitch...

Anybody can glue an RS sticker on the back of a car. Around here, you cannot swing a dead cat without hitting a Civic RS or a Sentra RS or a WRX RS.

It's a PORSCHE...no more badge required. If you mod it to be faster, then its a faster Porsche.

Honestly your sounds like to me it would be worthy of the badge depending on the final product. For me RS is weight reduced, lightweight carpet (maybe), no back seats, increased power and performance items, re-done door cards with pulls and a few other items. Track ready but streetable without looking like a stripped civic lol.

an 944 rs woulda probably had been either a lighter 944 turbo or lighter s2. more likely the turbo as they did make 968 turbo rs'.

if you're using a 968 engine, 240ish hp, get a freer flowing exhaust and head, maybe pair of cams, getrid of the rear seat, run at least a harness bar, sport seats(like gt3 with pass throughs for belts), some 18" rims, to fit larger 911 brakes under them. i'd deffinitly consider lighter body panels, maybe aluminum insteadof steel. my personal opinion, use a 968 rs replica spoiler as it would look better, and funtion better than the foam one of the 944 era. 968 handles/mirrors, debadge it. don't give anyone a clue as to what you have. of course, paint it gaurds red or speed yellow...something bright

Follow the process for the 968 Club Sport as yours is a bit of both.

The Club Sport has bigger 7.5x17 9x17 wheels, 20mm lower and firmer M030 suspension, manual mirrors, no rear wiper, heated washers or radio. Inside were light Recaro seats, CS steering wheel, no airbag, manual window winders, manual heater, no alarm, manual hatch release, rear seat delete, lightweight hatch carpet. Engine bay had one cooling fan, no soundproofing, 90A alternator, no a/c. 40% LSD and larger 304mm front brakes were also fitted.

Basically a lightweight 2 seater with better brakes and suspension.

as its a first production year car it ticks a lot of the lightweight boxes:- manual heater, one cooling fan, manual hatch. 1180kg from the factory before i've chucked the spare wheel, rear seat, insulation, rear wiper is gone etc.

thanks for your input, after reading your comments i feel it could never be worthy of a badge as such but it'll be nice to build something that stuttgart could hopefully appreciate.
the rally im building this for next year passes through germany so ill be taking a detour to its birthplace and maybe pop round the ring for ****s and giggles. as well as a customary visit to the museum.
gratuitous photos outside will appear at some point on here

cant wait to see them! btw i like to think of my 968 as an "RS-esque" tribute... rs door pools, a little lighter, a little faster... i might even look into getting some porsche script letters for a "RS-esque" badge!

don't forget to update on your progress!

RS = Renn Sport
CS = Club Sport

Both factory Porsche, at least they used them first and others copied. iirc RS from stipped out 911's in the 70's, ie: RS America.

"Gruppe R" is not factory but an outside independant group. Again others have copied such as Honda "Type R".

GT is used by many, don't think Porsche started that, probably early Bentleys.
