Default auto to manual swap, some questions

I have access to an '87 924s and an '87 944, both 5 speed cars. I have an automatic '88 and was considering doing a transmission swap. Would it be worth doing or should I wait until the auto trans dies, I mean needs replacing.

Can someone tell me which car would be better for the swap, if any?

What parts would I need to remove from the donor car?

Will the wiring be a simple plug and play process or is it more in depth?

I used the search but couldn't find clear answers.

Most of the information I have suggests using a rubber center clutch disc to make the shifting smoother.
Hard to find a rubber center NOS or in decent condition.
