Default Stuck in 5th gear

Hi all

Tried to drive my S2 out from work yesterday. Moved the stick to reverse and it went ping. The shift lever is now sloppy and clearly not changing gears. It is stuck in 5th.

Nothing wrong around the shift lever under the boot; everything attached as it should be. Could it be the intermediate shift linkage or something in the gearbox?

I have not had to do lots of work on my P cars. I did replace the clutch on the 924 which was an interesting job and not one that I want to repeat anytime soon. I did it but I would class that as above my competence level! Any advice before I raise the back end and have a look or play around is very appreciated.

Thanks

Chris

likely the pointy-ended bolt that secures the shifter rod to the trans linkage has come loose or disappeared. on the left-hand side of the car (passenger side for you!) at the top of the transmission you will see it.

If the shift lever and intermediate bar are still attached and tight, you're going to have to raise the back end to inspect where the intermediate bar attached to the linkage. Hopefully its just a loose bolt.

Thanks, off on holiday down to the Isle of Wight tomorrow so will get the 44 up off the ground and have a look in 7 days. Hopefully I can sort it!

Hello

Attached is the picture of the linkage from Clarks. The alloy piece (X) has snapped at the point marked.

Does this need a new transmission linkage set - it's £130 from porscheshop.co.uk. Not cheap.

Thanks

Chris
