Default which radios came stock?

I want to put collector plates on my 87 924S and it can't have a radio unit that wasn't available in 87. It's not a DD and insurance costs will go way down. I thought I saw a list once of different Blaupunkt models that were used. Can anyone post the models that came stock?

Cool info!

I was wondering about these before I bought my Becker CDR-220 recently but I really needed something AUX capable. Props for anyone who goes this route. I hate (the vast majority of) aftermarket headunits.

Here in British Columbia (Kalifornia North), Canada, our insurance companie's rules state that to qualify for 'collectors plates', the vehicle cannot have anything that wasn't available the year the vehicle was sold. Numerous other stipulations as well, including that the tires cannot be more than an inch taller or wider than the OEM ones. I am going to have to change my stereo as well to qualify.

Well, I guess that does maintain the integrity of the classification.

Here in Arizona anything goes as long as the car is old enough. But you pay an extra $25 for the plate (solid copper, really nice looking, actually) but get no benefit such as reduced insurance, etc.

I used to live in Wisconsin, where abuse of the "collector" car plates spawned a "hobbyist" plate for modified cars driven fewer miles, etc. Mostly intended for hotrods.

As for the radios, I still have the original Blaupunkt Reno, and 2 cassette tapes - The Eagles Greatest Hits, Vol. I, and Cream's greatest hits. Not bad albums, but I think the Reno has to be replaced.

I was thinking of putting a disc changer hidden in the back connected thru aux in on cassette deck. 'They' wouldn't know and I could qualify for collector plates still.

Sounds like a stupid rule. But you are also putting gas and oil from 2012 in your car so it doesnt qualify anyway.

Now that would be a good state rule: Cars with collectors plates can buy gas at the same price as when the car was first registered. "To maintain originality". I vote yea!

That's the list, thank you.
I didn't know about the tire rule. I do know you have to send in pic's of the interior and exterior from certain angles. No dash cracks, no seat covers or rips, no dents. It gave me a great excuse to spend the money to fix the dash and seat. I was hoping to make a plate to blank out the cd player so it looks like radio delete but safer/easier to use an FM transmitter on my I-touch. Going to try to find one of the Blaupunkts

Maint, are you in BC as well?

BC will allow 'minor' scratches and dings and small cracks in interior, should look 'fairly new'. You can get an application form and requirements from an ICBC autoplan agent, I have one myself.

What planet has that common sense which knows otherwise? Never heard of or seen that before, though I'd like to see that wiring diagram. Impressive.

(mine came with a rubbish Kenwood deck)

At first glance, I thought this was absolutely absurd. But if you're opting-in to a special club, there should be a few rules and guidelines as there is with anything else. This does keep the membership in check and abiding by original intentions. It would be lame to find antique plates on a 'classic car' that has been untastefully redone with 'rimz' and a bangin' stereo. Impalas come to mind. This keeps out the riff-raff. Approved.

Amirite or amirite?

James6967, I'm in Coquitlam.
I was told as a rough guide that if it doesn't show in the pics it will be good. Talked to one guy who had a dent on the nose ( 2-3" dia) and they wouldn't allow it. (He was also selling a 'good runner' that, I think, he took the worst parts off three cars and tossed them into one car)
Mine needed quite a bit of work to get it to where it should qualify.
I really like the aux jack idea. I may be able to do it; if not, I know some people who can.
