Question Need wheel offset experts

i am looking at a set of aftermarket wheels and am concerned about the fitment of the fronts, they come in a 17x8 and 17x7.5 with an offset of 45+. ideally i would like 17x8's all around to allow me to switch fronts with rears of the same side if i ever need to (asymmetric tread), plus more grip to take advantage of the front brakes. however, i am thinking the 17x8's will rub the front fender and the 17x7.5 will just squeeze inside without problems. this is for a late offset car.

option 1:
fronts 17x8 et45 245/40 r17
rear 17x8 et45 245/40 r17

option 2:
fronts 17x7.5 et45 225/45r17
rear 17x8 et45 245/40r17

option 2 will definitely fit late offset. do you have coilovers?

The fronts 17x8 et45 will fit too btw, however you might wanna keep the tires at 225/40 to be on the safe side. Oh, and you didn't mention if your fenders are rolled or not... S' are rolled from factory so I forgot about that

its a 944 S2. suppose i could just get two 17x8's and try'em on, if they rub then just put them on the rear and get the 17x7.5's....
these are the wheels http://www.tsw.com/alloy_wheels_nurburgring.php they weigh in at 17lbs, forged, and cost about $1000 for the set.

I have 16x8 et11 in front on my 88 S' if that's any consolation. They didn't rub with 225/55 tires but were very very close. I changed to a smaller tire, but considering my offset was much lower you shouldn't have any problems with the rim itself. I would only be worried about tire size. That said, My fenders are rolled and I do have bilstein coilovers with camber plates. The rims you want don't have much (if any) of a lip so I think you should go for it

Nice looking wheels. I have a '90 S2 and I've been wanting to find some nice 17" wheels for street use.

If you get these, I'll be intersted to see pics and hear what size(s) you went with, if there were any issues, etc.

Those 8" 45 offset wheels will stick out 1.97cm more than stock 7" 52 offset wheels, if you want to know the literal answer. Up to you if 2 cm is too much extra as far as possible rubbing goes.

It bugs the crap outta me when companies have improper grammar in their web pages...
