I am in the middle of the tear down for my restoration/build and I have a question about the 944/968 heater cores and AC evaporators.

What is the reliability of these units? Have you replaced or heard of anyone replacing either?

I have the dash pulled and I'd rather replace either or both now and not again in the future.

It is not unheard of that they can get leaks but it is pretty uncommon. If you are pulling everything apart it isn't too difficult to remove the assembly and you can pressure test everything to be sure. It will give you a chance to clean out all the fins and the internal passages so they work like new again

I will be doing this to my car in coming weeks as well.
