Default Lifter tick or no?

I have what sounds like a lifter tick on my 86 951. It has been getting gradually more noticeable, or I have been gradually more paranoid... When the engine is cold, it sounds fine. It only pops up after the engine warms up, then I hear a loud lifter tick sound.

I did some searching and it seems that a lifter tick usually goes away when the engine warms up, which is opposite of my problem. Is my car about to break?

Or you're hearing the injectors.

would the injectors get louder as the engine gets warmer? And i'm pretty sure I hear the injectors under the ticking. I can hear the tick reverb off of cars and walls when I drive it too. It's loud. How do I check if it's an exhaust leak?

Sounds like an exhaust leak. As the metal expands with heat, a small crack opens up. It will get louder as time goes on until you are certain that it is an exhaust leak. It is likely at the gasket/mating surface. Hopefully it is just the gasket. Look for soot around the flanges.

If it is just the gasket, then you can simply remove the headers and install new gaskets. Head stays on.
