Probably my next 944
It's just a shame Porsche didn't build it...
Front engine 2.0l Boxter 4, 200hp, 151tq, 25mpg, 6-speed manual, 2,600lbs, near 50-50 F-R weight, LSD, direct port injection.
It will make a great track car.

Like I said pity Porsche didn't build it, the front (lights/valance) are the only ugly bits. The rest really looks quite good, even the rear lights. Front engined boxer 4 is a major plus, COG must be real low. Priced around mid 20's fully optioned, wishbone rear, mac's at the front. Build quality should be good, I can't see any reason to doubt that. It checks all my street/occasional track car boxes.

I think it's a great car on paper - great formula - but it's ugly, from every single angle, IMO.
And I really wish it came with a Toyota i4, like the AE86, and not a boxer 4, like a WRX.

I am pretty sure we will see a new 944 from Porsche in the near feature. Especially after the VW takeover. I guess the first revival will be a Panamera based new 928 and then a new 944 based on a platform common with VW and a 2.0 TFSI engine.

I work for a Subaru dealer, so I've been able to dick around with these some. While I love the idea of it, I just wish it were German built and/or turbocharged.. it's just too slow.
Also, it would terrify me to own a N/A Subaru..I make too much money on those damn head gaskets.

I like the looks, and at 200hp, it would be more powerful than my 924S. I like that the interior was designed to fit 4 track wheels/tires.
I want one, but for the same money, I could get a relatively low miles 996...

I love those cars. Too slow??
Just wait for the sti version to be released.
Once I'm out of college and have money I think I'll buy a used one for sure.

What does this do better than my 1985 944?
Maybe a little bit faster, but does the steering feel as good?
Do the brakes feel as linear?
Is the shifter as nice?
Will my smile be a big as in my 944 with the sunroof out while working it hard down my favorite twisty roads.
I don't think so
BTW, I own a 2011 Subaru WRX, and it may be faster (ok its alot faster) then the Porsche but its almost disapointing in comparison for driving fun.
I will go test drive one in the nest few weeks and answer these questions for myself.
