PLASTI-DIP!!!

Haha, I like the nurburgring on the window and love the 3rd pic with the windy road. You can find many amazing roads just like that one, where I live, on the west coast. You did a great job with those wheels and I'm glad to hear it was 1 can. Looks as good as paint.
Butters, I remember those mockups! I think plasti dip is a good medium for this.

All you need to do is wash the parts off real quick. The stuff covers up any imperfections and is self levelling so it always goes on nice.

Whoever invented this stuff is getting rich!
I just found out about this stuff and I'm going to buy some as soon as I have time to go shopping. Some ideas I've been kicking around that this stuff would be perfect for:
masking 928 manhole wheels to look like 951S club sports
painting the factory-black wing on the 968 to (kinda) match the paint color
windshield sun visor (I've done 3 with a strip of black vinyl and positioning/trimming is a chore)
paint my brother's car a different color next time he leaves it for a day

Hey Butters, if you really wanna paint the car you can do what a kid I knew a couple years ago did and used a roller brush and automotive paint on his car! Lets just say it takes a lot longer and a lot more coats because you have to sand it back so much to get a flat finish but he pretty much painted his car with a roller brush for 200 bucks and it turned out pretty damn good! haha, just stick with white = easiest color to paint

It peels off easy, just do a quick youtube search! Yes it's only flat but the do sell a "glossifier" that gives it a gloss look. Just youtube it.
About painting my whole car, I am going to buy a single can to see how well it covers, then I'll go from there. Hopefully when all is said and done it'll be under 100 bucks. And the best part, if I get a big scratch or something, I can just peel off the panel with the defect, and respray it!
As far as paint protection, I believe they have a clear product just for that!

The rock guards aren't that hard to replace, and they are clear so you won't have to paint the new ones.
There have been many threads on roller paint jobs using Rustoleum, but I've never heard of doing it with real automotive paint - that would probably come out better.
If this Plasti-dip peels off easily, couldn't you theoretically spray any type of paint you want onto it? Use the Plasti-dip as a primer, and if you don't like that metallic gold paint on your wheels, it will peel off with the Plasti-dip, right?

I got bored today and hit two of my extra wheels with black plasti dip. They turned out pretty good and it is a good project to help with rattle-can skills (seemed pretty forgiving). Removal of the material sounds quite easy compared to other paint as well.
Bonus12, after spraying my wheels i could still see nicks on the wheels but its black so it doesnt really stand out (if your asking abt the plasti dip absorbing chips n such)
FR, im not sure on the using it as a primer but i may be tempted to test that...
