I wonder how well that stuff stands up to the sun. Also, what happens when you go through an automatic car wash? Those brushes/high pressure washers are pretty brutal

Never EVER go through automatic car washes!!!

About the sun, I'll find out in time. Did the metal trim around my windshield, we can see how it holds up.

I remember coming across another Rennlister's post in the 996 or 997 GT3 section (a while back) who also tested the product on his wheels - but I can't seem to find it.

I think it stood up to use.

I have to repaint my car soon, I'm thinking about giving this a shot as an experiment.

DO IT!!! Be the first plastidipped 944!!! I'm slightly considering it myself as my paint is terrible and I won't afford a repaint until 5 years when I'm done with college

Some threads that are good reads on the stuff...

Alright, I'm in. Gonna try it on the whole car - If I don't like it I'll just peel it off. Gonna need to find some things I've never seen before for the 944 though.. like a way to smoke out the tail lights.

I love the hot pink and monster green colors too.

You should do one panel first and leave it on a lil while to make sure you want to commit (even tho it's only a couple hundred bucks)

So I've been looking into it in Australia. Was thinking of going matte black on the Cup II replicas on my car.

AUD$34 a can.
Sigh.

One hardware store about 20 mins from home has them. That's the price.
Online price is similar, or $200 to coat your wheels for you.

These are my plasti dip wheels at the fest.

This stuff is pretty durable and much easier to work with than paint. I also painted my header panel and have taken the car through the touch less automatic washes without issue.

The aerosol stuf has the uv protection and is supposed to be good for around seven years in the sunlight. You can also buy itby the gallon, but I don't believe that it has uv protection in that quantity, So i would check for that if your doing your whole car.

Downside of course it is is pretty soft and scratches easily. It is easy to touch up however. If I was doing my car, I would be sure to clay bar and wax it to make it easier to remove.

I wonder if it has any problems bonding on body filler/ primer. Has any body done any wheel repairs and then sprayed them?
