I read an account by a famous driver that they would weld square bars or angle iron, like 1/4" x-section, onto the length of the sway bars to increase the stiffness. I'm not an engineer, but it seems to make sense. Lemons legal? BTW, I have one pair each of two-dot blue and two-dot yellow springs I could donate.

Rebuild the shocks and put some heavier weight oil in them.

WHat's wrong with this idea? Autozone sells spring rubbers. They would increase the stiffness, and are dirt cheap.

I just picked up a 86 944 that has been a lemons car and wanted to do the same thing.
Needs to be lower and stiffer.

could get creative and make a swaybar disconnect somehow like a jeep...they can bounce on it and the car will float but then you reconnect lol

i like the idea of the welded swaybar

what size bars does your lemons car have? i have an NA standard 23 mm taking up space in my attic you can have for shipping cost, if i can find it.

also i have a pair of rear konis (for early car though, dont know if theyll work for you) of unknown goodness you could get cheap.

I need to go over the car still....Literally just picked it up last night and its still on the trailer.
working on truck this week then will get car on rack.
Plan is to have it at the December Lemons in Chuckwalla.
it has no rear shocks, muffler, and hole in block so those are things I know I need to do.
EASY has a shortblock for 200 bucks or long for 500

I have no idea what size the front is. We have nothing on the rear. Is your bar a rear bar or front bar?

I have 25.5mm turbo fronts, a 26.8mm turbo S front, and a 16mm rear. I also have some stiff (yet ugly) KYB shocks for the rear. the bars are factory, and they're not really even clean.

the shocks, 25.5 front and 16mm rear are free if you can get them at the 'fest, or get them in Cleveland. I want a few bucks for the 26.8. the front bars come with hardware, too. I don't have rear drop links.

I've got a set of '87 951 sway bars, front and rear that you can have for $1 + shipping. According to Clark's Garage they are 23.5mm in the front and 18mm in the back. I'll even print you up a nice receipt :-)

If that 944 is 86 and older you can throw some heavy fork oil in them to help stiffen the front end with a set of turbo springs. Could you do that?

Pretty sure the team would kill me if I didn't take one of these "free" rear bars. I see offers from Sydney, Pettybird, and Greg.... definitely appreciated. I'm in Chicago, pretty sure none of our team will be at 'fest, so it's down to Sydney and Greg.

Sydney - where are you? (I don't know where "District 12" is)

And do either of you also have the hardware to mount it?

if you can only race it the way you bought it.

you can only stiffen the front. you can't do much to the back unless you limit the travel.

What i would do, if theres no vin numbers, id get the car vinyl rapped into another colour, or even painted, doesn't matter and put stiffer used T-Bars and front coilovers and new rubbers.
say you bought a new car. and let them hate you even more.
