How do I know my manual boost controller is working? I want to run lower boost, since I have no need for all the power all the time. I'll turn it to the left and the boost gauge doesn't show more or less vacuum like I assumed it would. Is the only way to tell, to drive it and get into boost?

Yes, it won't effect vacume, only boost. You need a real boost gauge and turn the **** to desired setting for your setup.

I'm not sure why people turn the boost down on the streets. i assume people drive with their right food stuck down hard on the accelerator?

^ I don't drive with my foot at the floor actually. I shift at pretty low rpm's under 4k and stay out of boost almost always. But when I do need to get on it, passing, merging, etc I don't need 18, 19 20 psi going through my k27/8 risking blowing something. 13, 14 or 15psi is what I want. Yes it does have an overboost function and limp mode, but I don't want to deal with either of those.

well with a manual boost controller, all the way open should be basically what ever your waste gate spring regulates it at. From there you close the controller for more boost. What spring do you have - my Tial was like 11-12lb least. I used to run 18psi on the street and 14-15 on the track.

i think you've got it the wrong way around. all the way closed is spring pressure.
