Thanks man..

The bosch pump went weak and noisy, will be replaced with this walbro 255.

The turbonetics gate was running as a single port, will now be dual port and the correct spring will be fitted.

I have changed the boost controll to this type-
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TURBO-MANU...item33590834bd

after 2 years I replaced the non scripted drivers handle with the correct matching one.

Infact there are lots of little bits I change all the time, when they come up. Never worth posting about tho, for instance you will notice the l/h/r tail light was a darker lens and they were replaced with a matching set, and the spare wheel was replaced with a magnesium one from a 964 as it fits over the brembos, I also bought the bilstein alloy jack from that car.
Slowly I purchased all the little things, complete tool kit, minty hand books, sunroof bag, little clips odds & ends ect.. as well as maintainance- its a full time job.

But as one thing is fixed another needs attention - outer CV boots, wire fault on o/s main beam, sunroof gears (again) and an exhaust knock from centre when cornering hard, which will be ok when I change tail pipe and drop system down a bit o hope.

And a period genuine badge has to be better than a sticker right?

That silly tail pipe is now 2" shorter - shame it took a year to get round to it.

Now the bigger things, the gearbox is now bothering me as its gearing is a bit short, it seems to make little difference being in 4th or 5th when you floor it and 1st is a waste of time.
(lots of lifting as traffic in the way hence lifting a lot, but you see gears are short)
If you look how quickly it gets from 60 to over 100, id like that to be just 3rd.

So I bought this-

A G31 Dogleg with LSD, with all conversion parts to fit my 944 including a speedo drive set up

In all, I will have taller gears, stronger box and a cool 80s dogleg change

All done, fitted 944 turbo torsion bars and my alloy rear arms/turbo brakes.
Its nice and strong, longer 5th - saw 156mph on the Satnav.
Hate the change though.

I see the car being broken up or sold very soon, hate for it is growing - time for change.

How could you grow to hate a car like this? This is the dream of most NA owners.

Agreed, arguably one of the coolest 944s ever. Don't break it up, way to nice and to much work in her to have it end that way.

Thankyou guys! That hit me in the head!

I sorted the main thing that made me dislike it, the oil consumption and the smoke puff on full chat, the worn old block didn't like its worn old pistons.
I fitted an early 944 Turbo engine (block/head/crank/pistons) which is in fantastic condition.

It seems a fair bit faster now and the 1/4 mile times improved. With stock injectors and turbo and cooler on the morning the engine swap was finished it set 13.0 1/4 @ 113mph without good boost.

I managed high 12s at 112-114mph on Sunday with it set up better, was a hot day too! I'm quite sure low/mid 12s can be achieved with stock turbo/injectors in road trim if I could get a good launch.
So I am thinking about fitting Omex launch control....
BTW, the guys in the other lane often ask "is that a turbo?" obviously I say "no its an n/a"...
Now the Engine is good I plan to get some adjustable camber mounts and take it back to the Nurburgring for some fun.

I'm impressed as hell! Just goes to show what a difference a little weight loss from being an N/A tub makes in comparison to a bloated full interior 951. That, and having the ***** (and a much stronger R&P) to get the car off the line hard. The tall gearing also kind of hurts 951's coming off the line, which only makes them turn in even more dismal ETs. On the stock turbo and injectors you're probably only making ~280 rwhp at best, and still running mid 12's. You just dont see those kind of ETs from 951's running a stock turbo, or even sometimes much larger turbos. Impressive build and awesome car overall!

Thanks man,

There is a little weight loss from this car compared to a loaded 951, no ABS, Power steering, AC, plus i have dumped a lot of the junk like the fuel vapour system, but i doubt any of this makes much difference.
As you said, the 951 gearbox has a tall final drive, more of a top speeder..
10j rear wheels offer a tad more foot print also i expect.
I have re fitted the siemens injectors now.
The fastest so far is 12.8, i have not had a great launch so far. Not sure what the RWHP will be, i know it must be about 330 at the fly. It so hard not to bog down or spin off the line. Here is a run against my pals mk2 golf, 270hp in 980kg...on slicks.
