Strosek 944 Rear Hatch - Not for purists
Hey guys,
I have an original Strosek rear hatch w/spoiler lying around here, it cost the guy I snatched it off something completly absurd. The thing is pretty light, I can pick it up with 1 hand with a little effort and I am by no means massive.
What is your general opinion on the hatch, obviously not for purists. I dont care about boot space.
Hatch is:
Now my car, its a 1990 S2 and has cup mirrors, 18" Wheels, its lowered a bit and has 968 handles on the way and soon a vented badge panel and front spoiler when I can find the right one, so I can get it painted in the same group. Car colour is:
[[[[[[NOTE: NOT MY CAR]]]]]]
My original hatch has a bullet hole in it so its either replace it or fit the strosek hatch, I really cant decide
Sidenote: Best vented badge panel and front spoiler, any suggestions?

On the grey car it doesn't look bad, on the red car I think it looks odd because of too much red. I run a Saratoga top on a guards red car, which I think would look good with the Strosek hatch because the glass roof breaks up a huge amount of color due to the now paint matched hatch. No hatch separation to worry about either.
I am guessing you are outside the US?

I like it and am waiting on one to hit the market for a decent price. My hatch has been sealed with silicon sometime in the past and it still leaks. I actually got in the car after class one day and there was a little snow drift about 6" high stretched halfway across the hatch.

Haha, unfortunately no tales of woes re: bullet hole in hatch. When the car arrived it was already there and the only explination I got was they tried drilling the glass for a rear spoiler while on the roadside on a hill and the drill operator slipped. Who knows what really happened..
Cheers for the input guys, im not in the US otherwise I may be open to a trade but shipping each way would be a bitch and darn expensive.
The hatch is starting to grow on me a little more, ill get it sprayed to match soon and see how it looks.
A How-to on installing keyless entry and retmote boot opening is Incoming within the hour

I have a IFC hatch on my 944 NA. Very similar.
Yep it is not for purist.
Yep it does help keep the inside of the car much cooler.
It really doesn't mean giving up alot of rear space. And I am not nearly as worried anymore when I have a bunch of stuff in the back, folks can't see in the back of the car anymore.
It saved me about 35 lbs of weight even with the CF wing I added, maybe this weekend when I remove it for paint I will post some pics of it and weigh it and the original hatch to get some no bs numbers.
I get alot of good comments about it even though my car is still 5 different colors from both civilians and 944 guys. My car is getting painted Carbon Mist matte. I have a 924 turbo nose on mine haven't decided on a front spoiler. I think I will be very pleased with the overall look.
I say try it, put it on (will take you maybe 20 min with help) and drive the car for a few days with it and see what you think.
Hope this info helps,
michael

what would be cool is if you could remove the extra crap like the 44 style lip spoiler on it, and instead of the old ferrari style rear window, put a tinted lexan window that goes with the stock shape.
THEN add a 968 rs spoiler!
