Just in your opinion

and i forgot to list one more reason.... because you can buy an effin' Boxster for $10 k and just enjoy it until the engine blows, or even install the new, ims bearing fix.... if the engine does blow up, you can part it or even install a Goodwrench 3.8 turbo... if you part a Boxster, you'd be surprised what you can get for the parts.... wheels, seats, steering wheel, transmission, brakes, engine accessories... and the bonus ? a BOXSTER actually looks like a modern Porsche. if you and your identical twin showed up for a blind date with you driving the old 944 beater, and your twin brother in the Boxster, i tell you what.... she's going with your twin brother !!

not much worse than buying a 944 for 3 grand, putting 4 or 5 grand into it, and it's still a slow, dated, fading '80s entry level P-car. only to have the clutch go fight through the typical 4 or 5 years worth of other nagging repairs and gremlins, only to have that engine blow too....

and all along during this process all the strangers, friends and family tell you 'it's not even a real Porsche....'

the thing is that there are so many other cars out there- newer for around the same price as a nice 944 that most people would rather get something newer. I just can't find anything i like as much for the price, but then again I've not really looked much in the last eight years.

One of the primary reasons for driving (and now putting a new head on, apparently) my 951 is that I do not see many (any) on the road. The car is unique. I'd also consider an E30 (318is, 325is, or 325xi), but my wife likes the 951 lines better, and the marque.

Boxster? Meh. Common.

also depends where you live, I have seen a lot of N/A's up here for around 5k and they are in alright condition. Down in the states these cars are defiantly cheaper but then again so is any car :P

that twin brother might not get the action :P Boxsters are not that good looking of a car, the fronts look good but I have never really liked the rear end. There are a lot of little changes you can do to the 944 to really improve the looks of it. And really? like a girl would know the difference between a boxster/ 911 / 944 :P

sorry, but most random chicks would be getting in the Boxster. the new Spyder's look fantastic. hell, it's almost a friggin' Cayman... but the Boxster's been around for over 15 years now. and the front ends AND the rear ends on the first Boxsters look like ***. she's still getting in the Boxster. then again, the woman in my avatar is a 968 (almost a 944) gal too... so i guess your point of view is valid.

Well boys.... I just sold my 996 so I could buy a 951... Yes, I am coming back...

I am buying it because it's in a class by itself... An inexpensive supercar on which I can do most of my own work, without having to plug it into a computer to tell me what's wrong with it, and which can be made to perform like cars 20+ years newer.

Cool. I've had a 996 as well. After 10 911s including a 930, 2 914s, a Cayman, a Boxster, and a Cayenne S, I now have a 944 as my only Porsche.

Admittingly, I may eventually get a Cayenne diesel or a 991 as daily drivers if proven to be reliable a couple of years from its launch. Lastly, I wouldn't turn down a 67 910 as a race car replacement for my 944.

next town over there are 5 944's, i usually see 1 or 2/day. so while not common like a mustang, they don't seem rare. there are still around 55,000 in existance in the world(not a lot compared to the 150k produced).

i'd rather spend money on a cayman, newer, spiritual successor to the 944(small, light coupe, rwd, 2 seater). and i spent some time a couple weeks ago with some 993 owners, i had issues keeping up in my stealth, but i really don't think an average 944 would either, and a 993 is only 5-15yrs newer.

and i feel a little stupid saying all this, because i'd really like to get another 944, got an itch for a 951
