924S SE - Unsold, broken, soon to hopefully be for sale again
So I sold the 924S SE a couple weeks back, the new owner wasn't going to be able to pick it up for a few more weeks, I figured this wasn't a problem, the car had been running great. But the Porsche gods decided to throw a monkey wrench in my plans, and the head gasket blew on the car yesterday afternoon.
Thankfully this happened before the new owner showed up, I would have felt terrible if someone had driven 8 hours to pick up a car just to find out it is no longer running. Anyway, after a quick call to the buyer I refunded the deposit and now need to form a course of action.
I figure the best case scenario is that I pull the head, find everything to be in good order, put it back together with fresh timing belt and water pump and then re-list it for sale.
Worst case, I pull the head and find out the motor is toast and then I decide what to do from there.
Unless someone wants to make me a very kind offer on a non running 924S SE?

every Porsche front engine 4 is a lightweight LSx car...
were i to buy a 968 today, i wouldn't put one hard earned cent into maintaining the engine.
my engine's coming out in less than 75 days, praise God.

Not sure if anyone cares, but I have a 924SE with a stock but fresh '88 engine and gutted interior. It is silly fun compared to the two tired '87 924S' I've owned. Must be a combination of weight, compression, and the m030 suspension.
BTW, from the photos it appears the cloth seats on this example are not original. they should match the door cards perfectly. I've seen 3 other 924SE's IRL and only 1 had the original seats. they were ripped to shreds. The rest of this car seems to be really intact. I'd buy it just for those rear wheels alone but the timing is horrible. It's a shame!

I am not sure the engine is toast, and I won't know until I get a chance to pull the head this weekend. I did drain out the contaminated oil shortly after the HG blew, and I refilled the engine with some fresh oil in an attempt to save the internals from the milkshake.
If the block looks good, then I will likely bolt on the head from the 2nd 924S, just in case the HG failure was caused by a warped head. Thankfully it is the exact same part, the difference in the 87 to 88 cars is in the pistons.
The seats were recovered with a grey fabric, so they are not the originals. From what I read the original fabric was less than durable, and the seats becoming tattered was very common for the SE (aka LeMans cars). It is a shame, because I think the interior would be much better lookign with the original material.

I'm not sure what the offer would need to be in order to sell in its current state, but I am sure it is more than anyone is willing to pay. If you have a number in mind PM me, I won't be working on the car until this weekend.
