Whine about 944s for sale
On another forum I frequent, the "whine" thread is very popular. Folks love to whine about (perceived) overpriced cars for sale. Though 944s prices are still at the bottom of the Porsche price scale, a few outliers crop up from time to time.
This one caught my eye today. No doubt, a very clean 88 NA, but I could not help but think that for 8k, I would expect legitimate floor mats rather than a set of WalMart welcome mats:

when you are selling a car as a time capsule shouldnt it be pretty much original? No painted parts?
Are you guys catching the video with the car having a stock air box but the pictures of the engine and other video show a cone filter?
Is that the 86 guard red?

Its a bit high on the price scale, but otherwise it looks to be a decent car. Clean, painted in one shade, the engine compartment is clean/detailed and had things painted. So odds are this one was cared for.
Worth more like 5-6k i would say, but you could do worse than this.

Who care about floor matts,so what if you don't like them you buy another set. What your getting is a car which is in very good shape mechanicaly & estheticaly not bad at all for the year.you guys are simply spoil down there when it come to 944s.Come up here & see if you can get such a nice 944 for $8K.Instead of looking at small details which migth not please some, why not look at what has been done to it .I'll say it's very well kept & was taken care off so the asking price is decent. But of course one can always buy one the same year & mileage for $3/4K & spend another $4k bringing it up to date & complain about it.

However there are lots of these cars out there so being picky and patient is the key.

I wish I could make mine look that clean. I'm probably one of the idiots who spent too much on his, a 86 951 for $9.5K. I could have saved a couple grand if I had been patient but it had some nice upgrades and lowish miles. $8K is still a bit on the high side though, especially once it leaks oil and ruins that nice engine bay

Wow, that car has been attacked by rattle cans. I'm willing to bet a majority of the surfaces (interior and engine) have been sprayed and the areas that couldn't be "fixed" with spay paint or dye, were covered with mats.
I would consider it to be a time capsule from 2010.

I just thought the floor mats were funny. Selling a car is all about presentation--Doubly so if you are asking top dollar. The best choice would be to install proper mats, and for an 8k car, 200 bucks is a splash in the pan. But even if the seller didn't want to make that investment, simply ditching the door mats and presenting the car with bare carpets would make it look 100% better. I've got no beef with asking top dollar for a very clean car, but come on! At least make an effort! Things like that make a buyer wonder what else was cheaped-out on.
