Remember when one of the upcoming racers asked one of the pros if it was Ok to run on a bad part, I think it was a tire.
He answered " Go ahead. There are lot's of race drivers."

I did my rotors and pads right after I bought my latest 944 and these guys are right on. Park the car and order some new rotors and pad on the internet or take it carefully to a proper shop. If this thing breaks or locks up you could end up in a world of hurt. They're easy to replace and I'd suggest you read up on the procedure in Clarks Garage first and then get to it. Ebay has pages of smooth, slotted and cross drilled rotors and many different pads. If you just want stock, go to Pelican Parts, Vertex, Auto Atlanta or any of many Porsche suppliers.
One note here: The brake wear sensors that come out of the pads are easily damaged because they're of brittle plastic and after many failed attempts to replace them, I just cut the wires 2" short of the connector and soldered the wires together and then coated them with liquid electrical tape (home depot). You can't just leave them out because they'll leave a brake light on on your instrument panel and the cruise control won't work. I'll just use the old visual check to verify pad wear in the future.

Ok, guess I can't wring any more life out of the rotors.
I know exactly how old they are, replaced 4-20-2002

I headed over to Parts Geek to see what they offer. Is "Centric" any good? They are certainly value-priced. I think my current rotors cost $25 each or so, and that was back in 2002.

I thought this was a joke at first too...
Replace for sure, ASAP. Do the job yourself, take the money you'll save on labor and buy the better rotors, etc. etc. etc.
If the crack reaches the edge of the rotor, or catches your fingernail, replace it. You are way beyond...

First of all, that picture is from over a month ago (Feb. 10). And I think it makes the crack look more dramatic then it actually is.
I did some searches on the internet (some which took me right back to RL) which led me to believe that rotor cracks are common and not necessarily something warranting replacement.
Now I'm all nervous about driving down the street.
Anyway the advice about not getting the el-cheapo Chinese rotors is probably good advice. I wonder about not just the material but also the quality of the heat-treatment.
But I am going to get them anyway, because my last set of el-cheapo Chinese rotors (installed in 2002) didn't give me any problems and also because I don't really have the opportunity to wring it out at 10/10ths. No mountains or canyons or fun driving anywhere here in Gotham. Sadly, my brake rotors rarely break ambient temp.

"gave you no problems", how do you explain the crack? I've never had a rotor crack on any car.
