Default *challenge completed* Help out a teen looking for wheels? (puppydog face)

My 17th birthday is tomorrow, and I've been looking for a set of wheels for months. Obviously, I don't have a wallet stuffed full of benjamins.

I've been looking at anything oem porsche, 17". I don't think I want to deal with 18s.

I like the Mille Miglia twists, because they bolt right on to my early offset.
I recently got a bug for boxster ("fang"?) five spoke wheels.
Also like the boxster twists.

Basically, I'm sick of my phone dials. I'm open to any set of wheels that's porsche brand/porsche replica, 17", not too wide in the rear, if spacers are required, so be it. A good set of tires would be nice. My budget is basically as low as possible, under $500. I'm probably asking for something way to good to be true... But does anybody have a set of wheels I would like? To go to a fellow rennlister who plans on staying in the porsche/rl family for the next 50, 60, 70+ years until death due us part?

Attached is a fellow rennlister's car with boxster fangs. Those and twists are my favorites.

Trade for my 15x7 phone dials with lightly used falken tires are possible.

i cant help you with the wheels but i found a good use for dials, torsion bars, and sway bars:

oh, and front coils...

edit:

those boxster wheels look pretty nice. ive always liked cup wheels on 944s as well.

You should PM Hicks, he has a set of 17" mille twists for sale for $300 in colorado springs. Early offset too.

Shipping will get you close or over your limit, but they do look pretty nice. Im pretty sure he still has them. Hicks is a straight up guy, hes been grabbing parts from me for a while now i wouldn't hesitate to do a deal with him.

not a bad option. spacers can really add up. having a set that bolt on would be nice.

I already have talked to hicks, wasn't working out... According to him last week, he was overwhelmed with buyers, but according to his latest pelican bump they aren't sold?

I have a pair of 1" spacers already so buying a couple more won't be a big deal if I had to.

I would paint my PD's but with the cost of powder coating I'd rather buy new wheels. My dad won't let me spray can them.

Even so, I like the look of those boxster fangs more than twists. Like these, which are out of my $ range:

I went from phone dials to replica cup 1's years ago
Switched back almost immediately. The weight difference was just too much for my liking on an n/a car.

If I had early offset I'd be running fuchs or something, they look amazing. Late offset wheels have no dish.

I won't disagree with the weight thing, i just swapped from my winter 15" phone dials to my summer 16" D-90 set and the impact is pretty big. It really takes the "punch" out of the power band

I feel like performance difference due to heavier wheels will be negligible especially in street use...

You'll feel it while accelerating on the street or track. Not to mention the higher gearing will also be playing against you.

But it's your car, if you're more concerned about the look that's fine too.

I just swapped my 16' turbo phone dials to the NA..from Cup IIs. The car feels WAY lighter...tossible/nimble. 17" wheels make a NA feel 'heavy". The Cup II look a lot better...so it's what ever you are going for. I hated the look of 15" wheels..too small in proportion to the car. 16" PD's look good...

I'm personally considering getting a couple of sets of 17" fusch replicas from CIP1.

I know they aren't ideal, but they look good and are great for the rallying that I want to do because if I bend a wheel, it's relatively cheap.
