Default Tire rub with 18's on rear, '94 968

I have a '94 968 with 18x10, 47 offset wheels in back. Tires are Hankook Ventus 285/35s. Car looks great but I get a bit of tire scrub on the trim piece on passenger side. Since the trim piece is a bit sharp it took a small 1/8 sliver out of the outer edge of the tire. My driver side hasn't done that yet.

I don't think the wheel tires are an issue, nor the offset but after looking a bit further it appears my car sits lower on the passenger side a bit (leans to the passenger side). Does anyone have experience with this? Is it possible that the car was lowered by the PO ( I certainly need to level it) and/or is there an additional problem with the suspensions settings on that side?

Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

I believe so.Adjustable Koni's in front for sure and I haven't got under the rear. My guess is that something was changed. Is there a spec on ride height?

Sometime going to 18" just for look on a 968 will be done to the detriment of ride quality has a lot of owners has found out & are switching back to 17" since the ride do suffer with 18".What I got & will never part with is (front 17 x 8/225-45 ZR 17 rear 17 x 9.5 /255-40 ZR 17. What have you got for shocks at the rear.Btw my suspension is not stock, the car is lowered front & rear.

285s rub with some setups. you should have your fenders rolled. no big deal at all really.

it may advisable to make 1 or 2 cuts. then solder some lead into the gaps. done.

Sound so easy ,if you cut then solder does it need repaint?

Thanks ernie. I have thought about going to what you have. I had the same setup but in 18's, I just went bigger tires on the rims because your setup (tires) is too small on the rims.

What do you mean by the ride may "suffer"? Street or track use?

I'm talking about ride quality on a street car,not track. If you look at it another way Porsche never recomanded 18" neither on the 951/S2 or 968.Even cult cars such as the CS were shode with 17", the only car that was an exception to the rules was the the Turbo S(and probably the RS) with 8 x 18 frt 235-40 ZR 18" & rear 10 x 18 265-35 ZR 18",but lol pretty sure those didn't have the same suspension as our cars.

ET47 is very aggressive on the rear, for instance I'm running 18x10 ET65 on the back of my car...

Hmm Docwhyte.

If I'm thinking correctly that means on your the outside edge of the rim is 18mm inside of mine. Almost 3/4". (65-47)

That would pretty much solve the problem I am having. Am I thinking about this right?

Thanks

I run 285's on the track car, 18X10 wiht a 65mm offset. No issues. Plenty of clearance, but I also have -2.5 degrees of camber.

Regardless, your problem is offset.

it can be done nicely without having to repaint the entire tub. sure.

but you have to make small cuts. and tape off above the crease of the fender.

Check your sway bar mounts. My car started to look uneven. I found the front sway bar mount was snapped off. I replaced it and now everything lines up just right.

The workshop manual shows how to adjust suspension.
I have done it on my cars, and it isn't that hard if you have some mechanical ability. It also does change the alignment, so you may want to just take it to the shop.
You may have M030 suspension since you have adjustable front.
