Told me he purchase the car to fix it, but decided to sell it in parts.
Also told me the car as 150 000km on it, (around 93000miles).
He's asking 1500$ ?????![EEK!](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
I feel like that's a lot. Can it really worth that much?

I've purchased two turbo s transmissions with LSD and oil cooler, paid 1,000 and 1,500 for them. The 1K trans was purchased 7 years ago, the 1.k trans last fall.

How long do the clutches last in these? Porsche lists them as a wear item, why do these 150k transmissions still fetch so much? If someone can give a good explanation on why anyone should buy a high mileage LSD that might need a $1k+ rebuild within a year I am listening.

There should be a significant value/price difference between a documented low mileage trans compared to a high mileage trans. But very hard to verify actual milage on major mechanicals, and that seems to average out the asking/selling prices, regardless of mileage.
Either way, I would worry much more about the synchros, pinion & diff bearings, and R/P tooth wear in a high mileage trans, than the LSD clutch discs. I have not found the LSDs to be as fragile as many claim they are.
I think the Guard LSDs are around or just over $2k these days.

Make sure the damaged car was not rear-ended - happened to a buddy who owned a '72 365 GT; the pinion gear grenaded. You might need to look inside before you commit.
Can't you buy a LSD to add to your existing g'box?

I got an AOR box with LSD here from a member for 1300. The AOR is from an 88 Turbo and is considered # uno for this stuff. Folks have sold transmissions here for $500.

He told me the car HAD a rear-ended accident when he bought it. But he said it looks ok.
I don't know, Can I add a LSD to my existing gear box??? I never heard about that.
I already have the transmission oil cooler.
