Get a 5R gearbox and then sell your 5P and only pay $500 total.

Bought a Turbo S box with about 120k miles on it for $1500 back in November-ish of last year. Mileage was verifiable (RL members car). The gearbox in my '88 right now was rebuilt and currently has about 40k-ish miles on it. It came with the factory cooler, but no LSD.

I was going to buy a Guards diff and install it in my current box, but decided to buy the Turbo S box for the benefit of the hardened gears and r/p. I wanted the stronger gearset mostly because i was thinking of eventually putting in a V8.

I just removed a 951 non-LSD with oil cooler from a parts car and will be putting the oil cooler on my 85.5 NA 951 turbo tranny, which has an LSD. I'm going to add the oil cooler to the LSD turbo tranny and sell it. I will keep the transmission in the car so someone will be able to test drive it before buying it. Anyone interested in the Seattle, WA area?

2k for a guards Diff?

I mean I have a stock turbo LSD trans on my car, I was thinking not changing the whole thing, but to change the diff when I rebuild it.

I want to see what the list thinks about the following prices:

951 Turbo Transmission w/o LSD $600
951 Turbo Transmission with LSD $1,000
951 Turbo transmission with LSD and factory oil cooler $1,300

I have these and don't have the car.

Please post here or PM.

Thanks

Unless I am misunderstanding your intent - You need to swap the diff side plate to move the oil cooler, which carries the differential bearing race. Cant mix two different bearing races and will need to check/reset the differential lash and preload after the swap, so will need new diff bearings and need to measure and reshim the races. Not a trivial swap unless you know what you are doing. And unless you have a shop w/ known credentials do the work, a home done swap will not be worth much to anyone - not worth the risk that it may not have been dont correctly.

Also, the oil cooler pump drive gear is different between an open diff and an LSD, they are not compatible.

You will need to do some homework before considering your options. Best to leave them alone and sell as-is.

Looking for a 951S transmission, preferably with LSD and oil cooler in good working condition.

Anyone selling one?

1. Do all 86 951's have the oil cooler/pump?

2. Can the open diff drive gear oil cooler pump be modified to accept LSD drive gear?

my thinking is that every 944 would benefit from having a 968 box.

code? Why?

Jack up rear of car, Grasp one rear wheel and spin. Does other wheel spin in the same direction at approximately the same speed?

Yes? LSD.

No? Nope.
