Just checked with Ground Control who are the biggest rebuilder of Koni shocks, my Konis can work either way and they recommend inverted for lower unsprung weight. I suppose Bilsteins and maybe other Koni models might not work that way but I cannot see why not. Any explanation?

I bent mine (carefully) to gain about 3/4" of more clearance.

Exactly. The Cup Bilsteins also rub, but the cooling coils can be gently repositioned to gain sufficient clearance. Or you could smush the fins with the coil spring first and THEN reposition the cooling tubes. Sigh.

Gotta love the differences from car to car. I had no clearance issues with mine:

Certain shocks are designed to run inverted, many are not. Has to do with the internal tube/seal design. If not designed to run inverted but done so, they can prematurely leak/fail. Koni 30 series can be inverted, the older 80 series (8210, 8242s, 8470s etc) and bilstein turbo cups should not be.

Ground Control is not a rebuilder/service center for Koni.

Koni service authorized service centers

OTHER KONI AUTHORIZED REBUILD FACILITIES
In addition to the KONI Service Center in Hebron, KY, there are three KONI authorized rebuild facilities in North America. They are TrueChoice in Hilliard, OH (800-388-8783), Pro Parts West in Canoga Park, CA (818-888-8904), and Performance Shock Inc. @ Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA(800-965-5664).

If you think it is bad now, wait until you try to change ride height. I got shorter springs, still no good. Going to run an external cooler. They can be found inexpensively at www.racecityraceparts.com. John, you can also give us a call - I talked to you while Karl was on vacation a couple of weeks ago - and ask about the gear oil we are going to be selling shortly.

Does anyone make the O-ring adapters to -AN for the transaxles?

Default relo kit

Thanks JK. I didn't want to drain my transfluid when I removed the tranny for my recent clutch job as I have a fresh bottle of ZDDP in the box. That loop is a pain even doing the CV re-install and the coil is right next to the factory shock so my coilovers (haven't installed yet) would hit on mine. Not to mention the VSS sensor bracket is almost touching the coil as well. I have a double-pass alloy tube that I want to mock up on the trans passenger side that is completely out of the way.

I think the reason is you have no bottom control arm mount fitted. Are those just helpers or are the torsion bars removed?

Problem solved by bending the cooler and putting it on top of the mount. Thanks for all the help. BTW, I have run my race car for the last two years with coilovers and no Racer's edge or other fancy mounting bolt. Like Moddedeverything, I have rubber bushings in the top and bottom of those coilovers to absorb the shock. I wouldn't try it with monoballs like I have on the set I'm installing now.

No t-bars, didn't go with sphericals so no crazy mounting bolt needed.

I try to keep checking these guys for new products. Their stuff looks like it's well made, just sucks they are across the pond!
