Default Awesome Wheel/Tire Calculator

http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

It has taken me a while to fine this, but this appears to work just great. If you are early offset or even late offset and want to know how the new wheel will affect your clearance take a look at this calculator.

Does anyone know what a good tire combo is for 17x7 and 17x9 wheels would be?

In the Porsche Tech Bulletin for 944 with 17in wheels they recommend: 225 45 17F; 245 40 17R Bridgestone G-Force Sport.

Tire pressures: 36F&R

Castor: 3deg 15min -45min

Eccentric (x2): 951-341-431-02

Nice find.

I prefer 255's on the back for my 968 daily driver.

nice find.

only thing is, it properly does oversizing tire a rim. but doesn't do undersizing tire on a rim for all the new craze in tire stretching :P

So do I, 225-45 ZR 17 frt/255-40 ZR 17 rear on 8x17 F 9.5x17 R, tire pressure 36 F&R.But instead of Bridgstone G -Force Sport which was on the car when I bougth (didn't like them one bit) I'm now riding on Falken 452.

How much is the speedo error with the 255's? If it's not much I may switch from 245 to 255 on my next tire change.

Really can't tell you because when I bougth the car the Bridgstone on it were excatly the same size F&R as I got now.Btw I'll say 75% of the 968 guys are running those size F&R,also does lot of 951/S2 owner.

while I can't comment on what Porsche suggests for a NA 944 but for a 951, S2 or 968 the correct tire size for the rear is a 255/40/17 not a 245. A 245/40/17 will have the speedo reading high. The correct front is a 225/45/17. (by "correct" I mean what Porsche states as correct.)

autokurl, you are correct, my bad. The rear is supposed to be 255 not 245. Here is the factory bulletin:

...and here is some more good info on recommended tires:

Notice Porsche recommend upgrading the eccentric on the a-arm for wheels bigger than 16in. I didn't know there were two types until I saw them side-by-side. One looks cast and the other machined but I couldn't see any other differences. I presume one is stronger. Anyone know anything more about the two types of eccentric?
